These are exciting times. Join us to establish a collaborative relationship with the new Aberdeen Art Gallery for the founding exhibition in 2018. The Society seeks new members, students and volunteers to serve on their council, contributing skills and energy.

Working together we can enrich the creativity of Aberdeen Artists’ Society open exhibition in 2019.

Our aim to establish an event of national and international standing and make this contemporary exhibition one of the most important in Scotland’s cultural calendar.

AB+ News | AGM

Our AGM is set for Monday 16th May at ACT Aberdeen, King Street – starting at 6.30pm(refreshments available from 6pm) – and we are looking for new committee members!  Come to the meeting, see what we are about, and get on board.  If you are interested in standing for the committee please drop an email  to Stewart Aiken at aberdeen.positive@gmail.com.
The AGM will be followed by a Who, What, When, Where & Why? Networking Event (7pm start)with a guest presentation from Marc Cole – City Centre Director, Aberdeen City Council.  Part of Marc’s role is to manage the delivery of the city centre development work – come along to hear what he has to say and get networking…
We are looking for people to present at the Who, What, When, Where and Why? events, presentations can take any format and must be no more than 5 minutes long -Come and tell us…..WHO you are…..WHAT you do…..WHEN & WHERE you are doing it…..and WHY you are presenting….are you looking for help, support, partners or all of the above…

Update on ABpositive AGM and Networking Night

Wednesday 20th May

at The Suttie Arts Space – (within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary),  Forresterhill, Aberdeen, AB25 2ZN.

Enter through the main hospital  entrance and as you pass the Aroma Café you’ll see signs pointing along the glazed corridor to the Pink Zone.

The Arts Space is on the right before you get to the Zone.

ABpositive’s AGM is the opportunity for members to hear about what has been happening over the past year and the plans going forward. We have one nomination so far for the board and we need at least two more so we have as wide a representation of the cultural community as possible. Who, What, When, Where & Why Netwoking night

Registration is straight after the AGM at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start finishing about 9.00pm

We have a full house of presenters waiting in the wings to share their thoughts, ideas, work and also opportunities for collaboration so please come along and hear some interesting presentations.

Everything from literature to events, exhibitions to art therapy as well as how to get involved in shaping the future direction of ABpositive. Presenters include Alison Chandler (ACVO) Iain Halkett (Aberdeen Artists), Freda Morrison (Pushing out the Boat) Jen Shaw (Uni of Aberdeen), Artists Stephanie Vandem, Rachel Grant and Anita Bell on their different exhibitions and work along with contributions Yvonne Billimore (Scottish Sculpture Studio) and also Deveron Arts, ABpositive and Suttie Arts Space.

However if you have something burning to say and share we could probably squeeze one or two more people in so please let us know if you’d like to. Otherwise please support the presenters and come and enjoy the chance to chat, see the exhibition in the Arts Space. This event is hosted in partnership with the team from Grampian Health Arts Trust (GHAT) and there will be a chance to view the Aberdeen Artists exhibition in the gallery.

AGM AND BOARD VACANCIES
The AB+ AGM will be held on Thursday 8 May at 7pm at ACT Aberdeen, 33 King Street, Aberdeen, AB24 5AA.

AB+ is also looking for volunteers to join the Board of Trustees.

If you are interested in developing a programme for AB+ that reflects the needs of the membership and the ambitions of the AB+ mission and vision and are able to attend board meetings roughly every 6 weeks then we want to hear from you.

We would be particularly interested to hear from practising artists (both visual and performing arts) as well as members with legal and business skills.

If you are interested in applying then please e-mail no more than 100 words about yourself and why you are interested in taking a strategic lead in AB+ to Aberdeen.positive@gmail.com by Wednesday 30 April. The meeting will take place at Arts Centre & Theatre, Aberdeen on Thursday 23rd May from 6pm – 8pm with registration from 5.40pm.

During the event there will be a time of formal business, some presentations about AB+ and from invited speakers as well as a time for networking and refreshments.
As part of the formal element of the programme I will be talking about some of the future plans for the organisation especially about how we are working with the 2017 UK City of Culture Bid team and also about a series of events we will be running from the autumn called “cultural conversations” where we want to look at some of the most important topics facing the sector. There will be an opportunity to give some input into the planning of these events during the networking sections.

Also during the A.G.M business we will be electing the board of AB+ for 2013/14. Any member can stand for the board and also for one of the office bearer roles. The board has a maximum number of 12 members and at the moment meets about every six weeks as well as some smaller project group meetings such as planning for the cultural conversations events.

We would welcome nominations to the board as a general member or as an officer (Chair, secretary or treasurer) as we are very keen that the organisation truly represents the breadth of the membership and has a cross section of cultural organisations, individuals and other interested parties represented.

If you have any questions about joining the board or the organisation then please email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

As well as the formal elements of the event we will be having some presentations from artists and speakers as well as opportunities to ask questions during the main event and the networking time.

We are also keen for people to use the occasion to promote their work so please bring leaflets, pictures and examples of work, as you wish and we will have some tables available in the café area for these to be displayed.

The A.G.M is also open to people who are not yet members of AB+ but are interested in the promotion and raising the profile of the creative and cultural industries in the North-east of Scotland.  People are welcome from all parts of the community and the membership is not just limited to artists or people working in the industry. Please encourage people to attend and there will be an opportunity for them to sign up on the night. Hello peeeeeps!
We’ve been asked by AB+ for their Christmas networking get together (10th December to help put together a wee show-reel of some Cultural Events & happenings in the North East of Scotland during 2012.

If you’ve got a few good quality photos (landscape ideally), send them to us : info@creativeculturescotland.co.uk and we’ll put them up in the slideshow. Put any photography credit in the email and we’ll do our best.

NEOS AGM 2012

To all NEOS members and interested parties:

NEOS is bringing the date of the AGM forward slightly this year.

 

The AGM will be held between 10am – 12pm on

Saturday 17 November, at the Garthdee Campus of Robert Gordon University.

We are currently awaiting confirmation on the exact location on campus, as well as information about parking – this information will be sent out in an email, along with AGM documentation, before the end of this week.

Until then, please note the date in your diaries – not only have there been a lot of changes to NEOS which we would like to hear your feedback about, but 2013 will be the 10th anniversary of NEOS – we hope to have a strong turnout of members and interested parties at the AGM, to ensure we can start working together towards a really excellent decennial!

Due to a very large difference in time between the financial year and ACC’s Cultural Grant Award Notices there is a very real possibility we could be closing our doors at the end March. We have had a fantastic run and many wonderful people working very hard in order to contribute to Aberdeen’s Cultural Landscape but unless action is taken we will no longer be able to continue doing so. HOWEVER! If enough of you can get on board and let us know you want us to continue doing what we do best we might have a shot at getting through this very rough patch.

We are holding a General Meeting on Saturday 31st from 12-2 at our premises and we would love to see as many of you there as possible, it doesn’t matter if you’re not a subscribed member we need all the support we can get. We hope to see you there!
