Emerging Artists & Designers Programme (4 Roles)

Deadline: 24 June 2016 at 17:00Look & Learn will support emerging artists and young creatives from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to realise their ideas and create new work in the North East through a programme of practical training and mentoring. This project is a partnership between the Creative Learning Team, SMART and Robert Gordon University’s LOOK AGAIN Visual Art & Design Festival is funded by Youth Arts Collective North East and Aberdeen City Council. We invite applications from emerging artists and designers, who wish to build on their creative practice and develop facilitation and coaching skills with support from inspiring experienced lead practitioners. These emerging artists and designers will develop and lead on aspects of a micro–residency programme for aspiring younger creatives (ages 16-19 years) through the following stages:- Research, develop and produce new works, collectively and individually, inspired by Aberdeen’s city archive- Devise and lead on a creative skills programme for ten aspiring younger creatives in Aberdeen, with support from the experienced Lead Artist and Designer- Support those ten aspiring younger creatives to gain facilitation skills to pass on their creative skills through art workshops in relevant youth settings- ‘Sharing the Learning’ –present a range of creative work produced during the programme in collaboration with the younger creatives Skills and experience required: – Ambitious, high-quality contemporary creative practice – Ability to research source material and apply this in a creative and contemporary way – Ability to work collaboratively at planning and production stages- An imaginative and flexible approach – Experience of, or interest in working with young people in creative or other relevant youth settings- Ability to reflect and review, tailoring the programme to identified needs- Presentation skills, be able to communicate to a high standardFreelance fee for the project is £1,500 including expenses (around 10 days project delivery Aug–Nov 2016).Please apply in writing with the following information: – Personal Statement (max 1,000 words) detailing your interest in and suitability for the role- CV (2 sides max ) – Supporting documentation of previous work (total files must not exceed 5Mb)Send your application to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading Emerging Artist or Emerging Designer.
