‘Escape’ is a joint exhibition of work by Chris Wells and Mario Sughi aka Nerosunero. These multi-award artists have come together to showcase their recent work.
Mario Sughi is an Italian established artist specialising in Fine Art digital prints, living and working in Dublin. His work, satirical in humour and minimalist in style has been published and presented in many international exhibition catalogues (e.g. LÜrzer’s Archive “200 best illustrators worldwide 2009′; the Italian Pavilion in the World, Skira, pag. 85, Venice Biennale 2011; Royal Hibernian Accademy,184th, 183th & 182th Annual Exhibition; Italian Illustrators Annual, Milan 2010-2015), magazines (e.g. 3×3 Mag, New York; Aesthetica Magazine, Creative Works, London) and has been exhibited across Europe including Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Chris Wells is a multi-award winning artist based in Aberdeen, specialising in painting and illustration. He went to Gray’s School of Art and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art with first class honours in 2011. His greatest successes were winning John Kinross scholarship to Florence and David Gordon Memorial drawing prize in 2011; Selection for RSA: New Contemporaries 2012 where he was awarded David and June Gordon Memorial prize for a Grampian based artist; ‘Painting’ artist in residence at Gray’s School of Art (2013) and RSA residency at ‘Peacock Visual Arts’ (2014). This exhibition showcases his recent printmaking work made during the residency at Peacock Visual Arts as well as work made during his ‘daily painting’ project.
Both artists have an expert eye for composition and colour but take very different approaches to printmaking. The exhibition is a great opportunity to see their work together and explore their complimentary yet contrasting styles.
