We are looking for a Visual Artist who will work with us to develop and deliver a series of workshops and creative engagements with community groups and schools, including Lochaber High School.
This role will go to someone who is socially engaged, self motivated and who, ideally, has some experience of delivering innovative projects and working with the wider community, specifically young people. This role may be suited to a recent graduate. Applications are welcome from artists who are comfortable working with a range of media, including digital software, photography, music and creative writing.
The appointed Artist will be supported by the wider Room 13 International team and will report to the team’s lead Artist in Residence in Lochaber. The appointed Artist will be self employed and must demonstrate that they have the right to work in the UK.
Hours and fee
The role is based on a 9 month contract, commencing on 1 October 2015 and ended on 30 June 2016. The Artist will be required to work approximately 21 hours per week.
Approx 12 hours of this will be spent working with Lochaber High School. The fee for this work will be £5,616, payable in 9 monthly instalments of £624.00. This equates to £13.00 per hour.
The other 9 hours per week will be spent working with the wider community. These hours will be worked in lieu of the artist’s use of accommodation, which will be provided free for the duration of the contract. Working times will be flexible.
