“A collaborative exhibition of Scottish story tellers who through the use of mixed media aim to recreate an experience that resonates with the viewer after they have left. These works are the result of places we, as artists, identify with and we invite the audience to interpret the works in relation to their own explorations of different locations. Drawing on themes of nostalgia we offer our artwork as tools to instigate a change of perspective.”
Narratives of the North is a dual exhibition by Lucy Michelle Hanna and Rosie Scott – both nearing the end of their Honours year at Gray’s School of Art. Both artists realised they were working in similar territories, and as such this exhibition represents their continued daily dialogues around the connotations of found objects, and the shared understandings of the various landscapes they have encountered. Through the use of mixed media the two aim to recreate a lasting experience that resonates with the viewer. These works are the result of places they, as artists and adventurers, identify with. They invite the audience to interpret the works in relation to their own explorations of different locations, and by drawing on themes of nostalgia, both Rosie and Lucy offer the artwork as tool to instigate a change of perspective.
