Crowdfunding in the UK and Scotland is booming. In 2013, almost £1 billion was raised through crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending in the UK providing funds for more than 5,000 SMEs and many community and creative projects. Scottish companies have successfully used these alternative finance sources for their development and the market is growing rapidly here.
However, the process is far from simple and straightforward and the high profile stories in the media hides the fact that raising money from the crowd can be very difficult and many fail in their attempts to do so. There are common themes amongst projects which have been successful and lessons to be learned from those who have not.
This panel and workshop event will provide an introduction for people who think crowdfunding or peer-to-peer borrowing might be a solution for their project or business, and explore the current state of crowdfunding in Scotland. This will be through practical experience and knowledge from organisations, who have taken the crowdfunding path.
Location: All Scotland
