Dr. Donnie Ross is a retired hospital doctor. He has been President of Aberdeen Artists Society, was a founder-member and for 10 years Chairman of Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust. Some of his ideas concerning creativity in health care are central to the philosophy and practice of the arts in healthcare, “The Healing Environment”, facilitated by GHAT in NHS Grampian.
He has exhibited paintings, photographs and sculptures throughout the UK (including the RSW, Edinburgh in 2013) and on two occasions he was awarded the Association of Anaesthetists of GB & Ireland Gold Medal for “Artist of the Year” at their annual Scientific Meeting. His artwork is represented in a small number of private collections, notably that of Aberdeen Asset Management, and he has been a pupil of Susie Hunt for about 10 years.
