Young People’s Event @ Aberdeen Art Gallery

Expressive reflections of a tale woven through time

Are you 14-24 years old and looking for something creative to do this Easter?

Join Aberdeen Art Gallery’s young people’s collective and artist Kelly McMeekin for an afternoon of special hands-on activities inspired by the blockbuster exhibition The Great Tapestry of Scotland.

Drop-in to the Gallery on Friday 11 April between 1.30-3.30pm and try your hand at these exciting crafts:

Knot & Natter: Contribute to creating a unique piece of fabric while enjoying an opportunity to meet other young people. Learn how to combine traditional textile techniques & modern materials to create something beautiful and bespoke.

Ripped & Pasted: Your voice is personal, creative and unique. Express your stories, ideas and dreams through vibrant collage. Rip, cut, trim, paste and splatter a striking personal design. What will your artwork say about you?

React Rethink Recreate: Try your hand at re-mastering a masterpiece! Reimagine one section of the tapestry as a piece of quirky contemporary art. Whether you prefer to baffle your audience, transform the 2D into 3D or translate pictures into written word -it’s up to you!

This FREE event takes place at Aberdeen Art Gallery on Friday 11 April.

Drop-in anytime between 1.30pm-3.30pm. no booking required.

Suitable for all levels of ability.
