Contemporary Art, Craft & Design Fair
Westhill, Aberdeenshire 2014
Call for Submission:
GLASSHOUSE is a new curated contemporary art, craft & design fair taking place in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, in March 2014. The fair, commissioned by Aberdeenshire Council’s Be Part of the Picture programme, will feature a diverse collection of artistic enterprises showcasing the work of local, national and international visual artists, designers and makers.
We are inviting artists, designers and makers to apply to be part of this new and unique event for Aberdeenshire. GLASSHOUSE is a selected fair and will be held in the unconventional setting of a greenhouse situated on the outskirts of Westhill’s thriving subsea corridor. This is a destination-focused event that has lead-in projects and creative transportation to attract audiences from the local surrounding area.
GLASSHOUSE is open to all forms of contemporary art, craft & design.
We are looking for high quality local, national and international practitioners whose work displays, for example, innovative techniques, materials, creative excellence, diverse skills, bespoke products, multiples and a variety of art forms to be part of this new selling platform and showcase.
Please download the application pack and fill in the application form – please note that no fee is required at this stage. If you are unable to download the pack then please get in touch and we can send you a copy directly by email.
We require a maximum of 10 good quality images for the selection process along with your application form. Please mark the subject of your email ‘GLASSHOUSE Application’ and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post your application and images on a CD or a memory stick (CD or memory stick non-returnable) to the address below:
9 Albyn Terrace
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 28 January 2014 – no later than 5pm.
As the turnaround is tight and places are limited, please get in touch as soon as possible.
This initiative forms a significant part of Aberdeenshire Council’s creative placemaking and creative industries programme, Be Part of the Picture, which aims to build local economies and community pride through promoting the culture and creativity of Aberdeenshire, whilst celebrating the diversity of the region’s successes and assets.
GLASSHOUSE will showcase and support the diverse skills of the arts and creative industries in Aberdeenshire and reflect the world-class status of Westhill’s sub-sea campus as a centre of skill and innovation.
The concept for GLASSHOUSE is a development of Tea Cosy, which was set up by SMART Consultants in 2009 to provide opportunities for artists, designers and makers to sell their work in a unique way. The curatorial arrangement, selection and experience from Tea Cosy will be carried forward into GLASSHOUSE 2014.
We look forward to hearing from you!
