News from Aberdeen’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2017

May 17, 2013

As may know, the initial bid document has now been

submitted to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.  In this document we outlined why we felt Aberdeen should be UK City of Culture and we detailed some of the city’s key resources.

Now we have to prepare for what happens next.

In the middle of June (we think around the 17th) we’ll discover if the judging panel have shortlisted us and if we then have to prepare a second, much more detailed bid document.

If we are not shortlisted there has been a commitment by Aberdeen City Council to press on with 2017 as a year of culture.

Whatever happens we have the opportunity to make Aberdeen a more cultural city and a city where the many talented people who live here and create here are recognised.

We would like you to be involved and we’d like to talk to you about the possibilities of Aberdeen being UK City of Culture.

The bid team would delighted to meet at a time suitable to you.  This could be a conversation between two of us, or the team could prepare a presentation for you and any colleagues or friends or partners.

We can tell you about our plans and you can tell us what you want to see  happen in Aberdeen.

Email us to set something up.
