Aberdeen wants local ‘champions’ to secure 2017 City of Culture bid | News | Aberdeen | STV

February 5, 2013

The team behind Aberdeen’s UK City of Culture bid is planning to ask the public to nominate “cultural champions” from their area to bolster the Granite City’s chances.

North-east residents would be asked to nominate worthy candidates to represent local communities ahead of the 2017 accolade which, if won, could see Aberdeen hosting events such as the MTV Europe Music Awards and the Turner Prize.

Nominations must be submitted by April 30, with a shortlist due to be announced in June and the winner revealed in November.
