National NEET Conference 2013 (education)

January 24, 2013

Despite the encouraging but slow economic growth and the gradual reduction in unemployment, the latest official figures still show 2.49 million people unemployed. Of these 1,027,000 are 16-24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). Although, compared to the same time last year, this number is reducing slowly, it is imperative that we ensure these young adults are equipped with the right skills, experience and opportunities to progress in or resume their education, sustainable employment, self-employment or vocational training.

NTRL’s 7th Annual National NEET conference will bring together leading figures from across central & local government, education, the third and private sectors.  They will address key policy areas, targeted measures and innovative solutions to assist young people into education, employment or training.

The conference will be chaired by Chris Wright, Chief Executive of Catch22. Catch22 is a forward-looking social enterprise, they have over two hundred years’ experience of providing services that help young people to turn their lives around in difficult situations.
