Resonate: Creative Catalyst

January 15, 2013

Resonate is a strategic initiative, funded by Creative Scotland, that has been developed by the University of Aberdeen in partnership with the Arts Education Team at Aberdeen City Council, and aims to place creativity at the heart of the continuous professional development of teachers, student teachers and University teacher educators

We are looking for a Creative Catalyst to to undertake a residency within the School of Education to:

– Engage all relevant parties from the School of Education in the Resonate programme.

– Identify existing creative practice in the School of Education.

– Facilitate the sharing of creative theory and practice between people and programmes in the School of Education.

– Identify gaps, aspirations and opportunities in order to further develop creativity across all programmes in the School of Education.

– Act as a sounding board, mentor, collaborator and facilitator with individuals and groups of School of Education colleagues to enhance, develop and inspire greater creative practice.

– Be responsible for coordinating the input of other artists, work spaces, materials and other logistics for workshops, seminars and planning sessions to advance the aims of the project.

– Contribute to the development of new courses being developed by the School of Education.

Resonate proposes a model where the Creative Catalyst is at the centre of the project, as a catalyst for creative activity undertaken by all stakeholders (University teacher educators, student teachers, qualified teachers and other artists).

A residency model facilitates a longer term working relationship between creative professionals, University teacher educators and students, enabling the identification of arising opportunities on the ground during the residency and flexible operating across modules and cohorts to reach a range of courses and people.

Resonate will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 of the project will focus on working with colleagues across the School of Education. Phase 2 will connect Resonate more widely to student teachers, practising teachers and CPD programmes offered by the two project partners.

Day to day support and supervision of the Creative Catalyst will be given by The University of Aberdeen, with the Arts Education Team at Aberdeen City Council in partnership.
