Applicants must be painters who:

a. Are currently living and working in Scotland and are aged 18 or over on 1st January 2013.

b. Have studied, or are studying, at a college of art or in an art discipline at a university, further education college or independent art college.

c. Should more than five years have passed since studying, or if the applicant has no formal qualification, the body of work submitted must be proposed and approved by a suitably qualified referee, e.g. art lecturer, teacher, gallery owner.

d. The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards welcomes entries from artists with special needs. There will be a main prize of £25,000 with an additional £10,000 divided amongst the runners up.

How to Enter

1. Entrants must complete the application form in this brochure. Alternatively, an application form can be downloaded from http://www.jolomofoundation.org. Applications forms are available in Adobe Reader format. 2. Applicants should submit a body of work on CD-ROM to The Jolomo Foundation in high resolution jpeg format. This should include one central, titled image which should be a painting and between five and ten supporting images that are different from the central image. These supporting images may be paintings, sketches or drawings. All entries should be accompanied by detail of the titles, metric sizes, medium used and the year the work was made. The entrant’s full Curriculum Vitae should also be included. The closing date for entries is 14th January 2013. Only applications in the above format will be considered.

3. Entries must NOT be submitted by email.

4. All entries on CD-ROM will be acknowledged but will NOT be returned.

5. An Awards entry fee of £25.00, made payable to The Jolomo Foundation, must accompany each entry. Payment can be made by cheque, bankers draft or postal order.

6. Although entrants to the 2007, 2009 & 2011 Awards may enter The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013, the winners and runners-up of the 2007, 2009 & 2011 Awards may NOT enter the 2013 Awards. Work entered for The Jolomo Awards 2007, 2009 & 2011 is not eligible for submission to The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013. how to enter

7. Entrants shortlisted for The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013 will be notified by 1st April 2013. Thereafter, the shortlisted artists will be interviewed by the Judging Panel at the same time as submitting the originals of their entries. It is planned that the interview process will be completed by 30th April 2013. Shortlisted artists will be advised of supporting work required by the judges and will be asked to submit a statement of artistic practice. IMPORTANT – entries by shortlisted artists should be available for an exhibition at the time of the presentation of The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013 and for a further exhibition later in the year. A selection of work by the winning artists will be exhibited as part of the next Jolomo Awards.

8. Shortlisted entrants’ portfolios must be collected from The Jolomo Foundation by 31st May 2013.

9. The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards will be presented in June 2013.

10. The transport and packing of entries is the responsibility of the entrant. Further, shortlisted entries are submitted at the artist’s own risk. Neither The Jolomo Foundation nor any sponsor of The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013 will accept responsibility for any loss or damage to the shortlisted entries.

11. The copyright of all works submitted to The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013 will remain the property of the artist but it is a condition of entry that The Jolomo Foundation reserves the right of reproduction of all exhibited works for publicity/educational/reference purposes in connection with The Jolomo Awards.

12. The decision of the adjudicators is final and no correspondence can be entered into.

13. The personal information supplied by entrants on application forms will be held securely by The Jolomo Foundation in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 1998. This information will only be used in the process of administrating The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2013 and will not be transferred to any third party. At the end of each Awards programme this personal information may be retained permanently for historical research purposes by The Jolomo Foundation.

14. No member or employee of The Jolomo Foundation, Jolomo Limited or relative thereof is eligible for an Award from The Foundation.
