GHAT looking for an experienced lead artist/designer

October 24, 2012

Grampian Hospitals Art Trust is looking for an experienced lead artist/designer or design company who works closely with people within their own public art practice, to work with Aberdeen Community Health and Care Village.

The Aberdeen Community Health and Care Village will be a diagnostic and treatment centre for the people of Aberdeen, ‘an urban community hospital without beds’. It will support people to remain well, independent and in their own communities, supporting self-care, helping to reduce the burden on the acute centre at ARI.

This new building will be accessible, friendly, welcoming and easy to use and will contribute to the regeneration of this important part of the city centre. It will be built to the latest design and building standards, using energy efficient materials, and is designed to create a feeling of wellbeing using light, space and colour, incorporating the atmosphere and scale of a Village with all services reached from a central “Village Square”.

A key element of this is dependent on creating a visually stimulating environment that encourages the population to engage and to use the building and its services. The value in creating the right environment is now well recognised and is key to the success of the project.

The artwork will include sculptures for the four courtyards that make up the ‘Village Square’ located within the heart of the building to compensate for the very urban location in the centre of Aberdeen.

The deadine for applications is Monday 12th November 2012.

For full details of the application process please download the Brief from our website http://www.ghat-art.org.uk or phone the office on 01224 552429
