IMP news – october

October 4, 2012

Hope everyone is okay – we have some good news and some not so good news.

Good stuff first. IMP celebrates its 250th promotion on Tuesday 27th November with an all star line up of King Creosote + FOUND at The Blue Lamp. Great for us it sold out in six hours but we really could have sold double the number. The maximum 100 capacity was well publicised but we do understand the disappointment that’s been expressed; we will do our utmost to try & get KC + FOUND back in 2013, but we can’t promise as they are busy artists.

Yesterday the news came out that One Up Records, Aberdeen’s only independent record shop, is in deep financial trouble and there are strong possibilities that it will shut down after Christmas. We urge everyone, if they can, to go spend a few pounds over the next few weeks to show solidarity with this wonderful independent shop. It only seems like yesterday when we put on a great night called 30 on the 30th in The Tunnels to celebrate their 30th year in business. Primary cause of this woeful state is downloading, Amazon (who don’t pay VAT) etc etc.

Here’s a facebook link to a group trying to rally the public to support and spend some spare money… SUPPORT ONE UP!!/HelpSaveOneUpRecordsAberdeen

It’s got almost 3000 followers and is less than two days old – WOW.

We have an exciting gig coming up this Saturday in Tunnels 1 BUT sadly Hysterical Injury have pulled out of their two Scottish dates. Mike is gutted, HOWEVER we are delighted to announce Carson Wells have jumped in to save the day. We have seen this excellent band on a couple of occasions and believe they will be a more than a worthy replacement and it just so happens they were in line for their IMP debut for a while… so game on!

cheers for now – go buy some records!
