Woodend Barn presents Chemikal Christmas, an evening featuring three acclaimed artists from the renowned Chemikal Underground label: Emma Pollock, RM Hubbert and Adrian Crowley.

Returning to the Chemikal Underground label after her immediate post-Delgados sabbatical to 4AD, acclaimed singer-songwriter Emma Pollock’s 2010 album The Law Of Large Numbers was dense, intelligent and supremely well written.  Emma’s current musical projects include driving forward the Fruit Tree Foundation alongside Idlewild’s Rod Jones and playing a central role in The Burns Unit (who recently performed on Later…With Jools Holland), alongisde her label duties and responsibilities at Chemikal’s Chem19 studios.

RM Hubbert is a longtime friend of the Chemikal Undergorund label and a guitarist of quite prodigious talent.  ‘Hubby’s’ technical prowess, combined with the intimacy of his shows has secured his reputation as an unmissable live performer – a fact not lost on the likes of Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor who have invited him to support them on tour (he also supported Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat on their UK and European tour last year).  His 2012 album ‘Thirteen Lost & Found’ features collaborations with Alasdair Roberts, Aidan Moffat, Alex Kapranos and Emma Pollock (amongst others).

Irish singer-songwriter Adrian Crowley was a winner of Ireland’s prestigious Choice Music Prize 2009 – Ireland’s Album of the Year Award – for his spectacular ‘Season of the Sparks’.  Bill Callahan, Leonard Cohen and Robert Wyatt all provide valid reference points for Adrian’s work.  He has just released a sixth album, ‘I See Three Birds Flying’.
