Creative Scotland: Press & PR for Scotland + Venice 2013

September 29, 2012

The Venice Biennale is recognised as one of the world’s largest and most prestigious international showcases for contemporary visual art, enabling country representatives to present an exhibition or pavilion dedicated solely to the work of their chosen artist(s).

Scotland + Venice is a partnership between Creative Scotland, National Galleries of Scotland and the British Council Scotland. The partners act as commissioners of the exhibition and for 2013 have selected to work with The Common Guild as curators to the project.

The main objectives for the partners are:

To profile Scotland internationally as a centre of excellence for the development and promotion of contemporary visual arts practice.

To exhibit the work of the country’s most imaginative artists.

To provide a platform for artists establishing their practice within a national and international context.

To strengthen long-term relationships between artists in Scotland and galleries worldwide.

Press & PR Campaign

The campaign is to increase awareness both nationally and internationally about Scotland’s representation in Venice as one of the highlights within the partners own international objectives. The strength to the campaign is enhanced by working with The Common Guild, an organisation with a respected national and international reputation in promoting the visual arts and the subsequent spin-offs that will come from that i.e. publication, professional development opportunities, etc.

The campaign is directed at audience development in a local context within Scotland and to highlight the exhibition to arts professionals, curators, collectors, and press through known contemporary visual arts publications.

The campaign will also have a strong social media element.
