Lighting Design Workshop « Citymoves Dance Agency

Citymoves Dance Agency in association with Aberdeen Performing Arts.

Citymoves Associate Artist Simon Gane will lead two workshops on lighting design for Directors and Choreographers.

Introduction to Stage Lighting (2 – 5pm)

Hands-on introduction to the basics of stage lighting, including:

Types of lanterns available and how they work, How to rig them safely and Options of accessories. This workshop is geared to towards Choreographers, Directors and Artists to help communicate with their Designer and or Technician.

Lighting Design for Performance (6 – 9pm)

The second session is aimed at Directors, Choreographers and Artists as an introduction to the potential of lighting to enhance your work. 3 Point lighting, side lighting, the 5 available variables and texture.

Simon trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and was venue based for many years including Technical Manager at the Lemon Tree. He is now Freelance and has Designed with many of theUK’s dance and theatre companies including Rosie Kay, David Hughes Dance, Company Chordelia, Freshmess, Random Aspects, Norman Douglas, X Factor Dance company, Dudendance, and many shows for Citymoves.

You can attend just the first session, but you will need to have attended the first session, or already have practical lighting experience, to attend Session 2.

Dancers / Choreographers booking this workshop are invited to attend free Professional Class at Citymoves Dance Agency, with Alan Greig (Nikolais) from 11.15 – 12.45pm before the workshop.
