Networking – Sept 16th at the Wyness Hall (Inverurie) 6 – 8pm

As part of the NEOS event, we’ve delighted to bring you a networking event in Aberdeenshire! After the fantastic Lemon Tree networking / itchee wasp exhibition, where ACC’s Gary Cameron had talked briefly about the Aberdeen City & Shire visual arts and crafts awards, Saskia Gibbon will be presenting information, and a reminder that the deadline is fast approaching for the first round of applications. We will also be joined by Gabrielle Reith (NEOS coordinator) giving us an update of how NEOS is going, from feedback received that week, as well as Morag McGee (ceramicist) Giving us insight into her working practice. CCS’ Aurelie Bureau will also be talking about her role in helping people find funds for “big projects”. (Wine and nibbles included as always!)

If you would like to come, please send an email to : creativeculturescotland@googlemail.com

We’ll also be working with CityMoves and SMart Consultants for more networking opportunities later in the year… October 14th is a date to keep clear in you diaries… more news soon!

Festivals!

September truly is an exciting month for creative events. Not only is NEOS in full swing (Scotland’s largest Open Studios event, with over 250 participants this year) – At the same time as NEOS, Perthshire Open Studios will be running too, but New Words has also been launched, a festival of creative writing and poetry (as well as music and visual arts collaborations!) The techfest will be hitting many locations in September, where creativity and science meet, very entertaining and informative! We’ve also got the Jazz festival’s return and the DanceLive festival organised by CityMoves near the end of the month… Running a big event and not in this list? tell us! We’d love to hear from you!

Newspaper

We’ve had a nice response from the last “CCS newspaper” email… but we really need more people to help make this retrospective 12 month celebration of cultural activity in the North East of Scotland… We’re looking to showcase a wide range of events etc in a full colour, 12 page “newspaper”… and we need your help. We’re looking for content, so if you’ve put on (or know of) an event in the last 12 months, we’d love to include you (for free) in the “what happened” centre page spread.

We are also looking for any practitioners that would like to showcase work… we’ve limited space, but we’d like to try our best to represent the amazing work that goes on “up here”.

We would also like to raise fund by offering 130 1 inch square “adverts” on the back page of the paper… for £15 you can help us fund this publication, as well as have a super-reasonably-priced advert! We are going to get 5,000 copies printed…

If you are interested in helping (provide content or advertise) – please let us know. Also – pass it on! we need your help to make this a reality.
